Stayed one night here to catch up with friends and attend a party . Lovely staff on reception who happily let me leave my luggage until I could check in . Room No 1 was a quirky four poster bedroom .. very spacious and clean .. nice bright and spacious bathroom too . Plenty of tea/coffee in room. It was at the front of the hotel and it was fair week but not as noisy as you might think .. I slept very well . Breakfast was ok but basic .. would have been nice to have some fresh fruit and pastries .. plus a choice of eggs .. only scrambled on offer .. I would stay again .. overall a decent stay with helpful staff
A lovely afternoon was had by all in the lovely cosy lounge. Debbie who served us was so friendly and helpful. Two of the ladies in our group are in their eighties, Debbie was so kind and thoughtful with them, carrying their drinks to the table.
Will definitely make this our monthly place to meet up 😁.
Very disappointed ! reception area and dining room look well maintained but our room, #3 was dreadful. Black mould all around the bathroom, shower leaked so very little pressure, dust all around the dado tiles, floor tiles not replaced when the towel rail had been replaced so just filled and looked awful, no curtains at the window but a metal blind that was bent, complementary tea/coffee cups and glasses for water were all dusty, obviously not looked into the room to check everything. Pillows not enough, smaller than average and flat. Breakfast was also disgusting, soggy bacon and hash browns and only one choice of egg which was scrambled and that was dried up solid, quite frankly we would never stay there again. Thank goodness we only booked for one night 😡
The bedroom was adequate for our stay but could do with refurbishment. The bathroom was not great, whilst clean, it was very shabby. It was very difficult nit to get the bathroom floor wet as the shower was fixed on the wall above the bath, and you couldn't hold it in your hand. Whilst the hotel is in a good location, I wouldn't stay here again. There are nicer hotels at a similar or slightly lower price nearby.
Claire is amazing! Never seen a lilly in the toilet roll before and that's insane! Rate the castle high good team good place love it! Will be back for pleasure! Cheers team I had a lovely two weeks! Breakfast is good rooms always cleaned to a high standard!
Stayed here for a school reunion in local rugby club. I have been to this hotel numerous times, but not stayed the night. The reception and lounge bar are all very pleasant as are the staff, but the bedroom we had left a lot to be desired. We had wooden floors with no rugs so walking on a floor that many other guests had walked on was a no go, the view was a very shabby Courtyard, the safe in the room was broken and it was very high in wardrobe. The bathroom was very grubby with mouldy grout and tiles. The hotel needs to refurbish their bedrooms. The breakfast was satisfactory, but there was a wait for some food to come out to the help yourself buffet. All in all it was average, but if needed to I would stay there again.
Well, what can I say my husband and I married here and Sunday 19th May 2024, what a lovely day we had spending it with our family and friends.
Food was fantastic extra hot no complaints there. Buffet was fabulous everyone was impressed. Compliments to Chef.. Thanyou you Staff and Ann Reynolds you went the extra mile.
A hotel that needs a lot of money spent on it. May have been nice 40 years ago but is now very much on the decline. Noisy bars opposite hotel. The carpets are very worn. Plaster coming off the walls. There is a step down into room so be careful not to fall.
Visited this place for Sunday lunch and I was very happy big selection of veggies and meat the veggie option was nice aswell the staff was very friendly and the price was great value 2 courses 15 pound enjoyed will definitely be visiting again
The room was small tho the bathroom was spacious. The bedroom ceiling was cracked with loose wallpaper. Same for the walls. The bathroom was shocking! There was mould around the shower door and brown dirt engrained around the taps and shower head. There was broken grouting around the floor tiles. There was dust and cobwebs throughout . We requested a different room but were told there were none.
The bed was up against the wall directly under the window with very poor fitting curtains so as soon as the sun was up the light flooded straight in to your face! It was noisy as was facing the main street and bars. The breakfast was almost inedible . The bacon had obv been cooked a while and was like cardboard. The food was tepid and the staff didn't notice the warmers underneath were out. We shall NEVER stay here again We booked this place due to an event we were attending just a short drive away and have stayed here previously and had a pleasant stay but it has sadly gone downhill and is now very poor.
