A great experience about 10 minutes drive from downtown,lovely drive round at your own pace.
You can decide how much time you wish to spend at each part.
As a UK visitor, our knowledge of the Civil war was a little sketchy and the video at the center really gave us an insight of the Vicksburg battle.
So enjoyable, thanks
Really enjoyed seeing the old ironclad and especially enjoyed how they've reconstructed the remains of the ship so that you get a feel for how big it actually was and how much room would have been inside it for the crew. Nice little museum next to the ship to learn about its production, sinking, and eventual raising for preservation. It's a wonderful addition to the history of the Vicksburg battlefield and environs.
It's a beautiful setting and it was quite moving to see so many headstones and so many of the Federal soldiers buried there are unknown. We were on a bus tour so saw them from the road.
Not the reason we visited but this was free of charge!
An interesting museum showcasing the mighty river, with loads of interesting facts and history with interactive displays and then a visit to a retired diesel-powered boat, M/V Mississippi 1V.
We were able to visit most parts of the ship except outside, even the engine room and bridge.
Some brilliantly preserved areas with loads of fascinating information.
Packed full of artifacts that tell the story of the Civil War and Siege of Vicksburg. Also enjoyed the actual courthouse still standing on the 2ec floor.
I have been on a dozen haunted tours in many cities through the years. I went to McRaven house on a day history tour and a paranormal experience happened, the cabinet door waved to us about 3 times. It was in Mary Elizabeth’s bedroom, and tour guide said that it was her. Very cool experience.
Enjoyed seeing the numerous murals within town and on the riverfront. Visited the Courthouse Museum which was packed with artifacts! Really enjoyable.
Really enjoyed this museum. I saw the pictures of the electric trains on TripAdvisor and that was enough to get me to go. Some very nice train set ups just like I always wanted to do as a kid. The diorama of the battle of Vicksburg was fascinating. Plenty more to see on the second floor as well.
A compact museum packed with artefacts and displayed with knowledge and passion by Charles and his dad. Well worth a visit
Vicksburg is a quiet and quaint town and this accommodation matches that.
The rooms are elaborate, but the bathrooms are in desperate need of updating - very 1970s.
Breakfast was ok, but came plated up and there were no choices. It is served from 8am, which is late for me.
The staff are not the warmest and seem to want to show a video about the house and seem insulted if you don’t want to hang around and watch.
Extremely knowledgeable and informative on not just Vicksburg but everywhere in Mississippi.
Go round the back for great views of both bridges.
The old one was closed for some reason.
T O N S of Coca Cola artifacts! Step back in time to see all that marketing has done over the years for the Coca Cola line. Walk leisurely, or look for specific items you recall from Coke products.
A very impressive and moving cemetery. As it is important to remember history, we were honored to stand on hallowed ground. Very well kept and simply beautiful. Trees and rolling landscape are a sight to see.
The entrance sits in a
“concerning” neighborhood and we passed police patrolling. Don’t let this deter your visit-the destination is well worth it.

There are two great bridges crossing the Mississippi River at Vicksburg. Both are cantilever design bridges and almost mirror each other, although the Old Vicksburg bridge dates to 1930 and the new one was completed in 1973. The old bridge used to handle both train and vehicular traffic, but is now only used by trains. Visitors can get great views of the bridges from the Warren Welcome Center on the Mississippi side.

We got lucky, and the preacher was there and let us in. When you walk into the church, the whole place is lite with the most gorgeous Tiffany windows. Each window is different, and 6 of them are Tiffany ones! They have the most, 2 other churches in Mississippi each have 1 Tiffany window. We were in awe of these prefect windows. It's a must-see while visiting Vicksburg. 
I love this place. The second floor is where I usually find the best treasures. My favorite vendor is directly in front of the upper staircase. They add new inventory all the time, so I never know what I’ll find. That’s the fun part. 
The daughter of the man who restored it was very interesting and informative. Very nice home to visit. Call ahead to schedule a visit.
