Venue refuse to give us a reasonable refund despite our entire reception was cancelled. The manager of the hotel stole our wedding centre pieces and used them in her own home for Christmas! We didn't even get to use them as our wedding was cancelled at 3pm on the day of our wedding! They then gave us 12 days to reschedule our entire reception and only on a weekday!!!!
We were very disappointed today. We love going for lunch here. We booked for today as it only opened up again after covid. We were so looking forward to it after it being closed for 2 years. They don't do lunch menu anymore. They now do brunch or ala carte. There wasn't much on either menu I was excited about. We ended up having club sandwiches and one of our party had a breakfast. This is not something I really wanted to have in such lovely surroundings and on a Sunday after a busy week at work. I don't think we would go back for lunch unless they reinstate the lovely lunch menu. What we did have was nice but not nearly as nice as expected. Carlos the waiter is a real asset to this business and if it wasn't for his lovely cheerful manner I think we would have probably looked for somewhere else for Sunday lunch.
As regulars at the Craigsanquhar House hotel this was our first visit for over two years due to the pandemic as the restaurant has been closed until the 1st April this year.
We were all so excited that this venue was once again open and we booked up immediately for our lunch on the 3rd April.
Unfortunately management have made several changes and one major change is the lunch menu.
They no longer have the bar lunch menu and this has been replaced by a Brunch menu or a choice from the a la carte menu The menu has been greatly reduced with many of the old favourites no longer available i.e. fritters, fish and chips, roast beef etc and replaced with an all day breakfast, club sandwiches etc. Unfortunately I didn’t see anything I fancied on the a la carte menu so I had the all day breakfast and my friends had the club sandwich. To be fair the food was excellent but not what I’d be looking for at lunchtime. With this menu I’m not sure if I would return at lunch time.
Please bring back the good old faithful bar lunch menu and perhaps add club sandwiches. Sadly on this occasion I have only awarded three stars but would willingly give a five star if you were to revert to the original menu which was always delicious
Apart from my complaint above food is superb and as always excellent service from Carlos.
